Our Founders

Anthony F. Varchetto

President

Anthony F. Varchetto is the Co-Founder and President of Blue Star Security. A retired Chicago Police Sergeant with over 22 years of law enforcement experience, he served on the DEA task force and in gang, tactical, and narcotics units. Anthony specializes in risk assessments, investigations, and supply chain security, with 18 years of private sector experience. He leads large-scale off-duty operations across the U.S. and internationally, focusing on client relationships and tailored security solutions. He holds a degree in Public Safety Management and is a founding member of Bank the Blue.

Jeffery T. Salvetti

Divisional Vice President

Jeffrey T. Salvetti is the Co-Founder and Divisional Vice President of Blue Star Security. A retired Chicago Police Officer, he served 15 years before retiring in 2020 to help grow the business. Jeff now leads large-scale off-duty operations across the U.S. and internationally, overseeing daily operations and integrating specialized security brands. He focuses on strategic growth, market expansion, and operational excellence. Jeff holds a degree from DePaul University and is a founding member of Bank the Blue.

Michael Woods

Vice President, Executive Protection & Intelligence

Michael Woods is Vice President of Executive Protection & Intelligence at Blue Star Security, leading specialized protection strategies and intelligence-driven operations. With over 20 years of experience, he brings a strong background in executive protection, law enforcement, and security leadership. Michael is also CEO of Associated Protective Service and owner of High Caliber Weaponry & Training. A retired municipal law enforcement officer, he is known for his strategic approach, operational expertise, and commitment to client safety.

Vice President of Sales

Jim Donaghy is Vice President of Sales at Blue Star Security, leading nationwide sales strategy and revenue growth initiatives. With over 20 years of sales leadership experience, he specializes in building high-performing teams and delivering tailored, client-focused solutions. Jim is known for driving measurable results, including rapid pipeline expansion and significant year-over-year growth. He brings a strategic, data-driven approach to sales, with a focus on collaboration, accountability, and long-term client value.

Maegan Teague

Director of Business Development

Maegan Teague is Director of Business Development at Blue Star Security, driving growth through strategic partnerships and client engagement. With nearly 14 years of experience in business development within the off-duty law enforcement sector, she brings deep industry knowledge and a proven ability to build lasting relationships. Maegan is known for her strong communication skills, attention to detail, and results-driven approach. She holds a background in business administration from San Diego City College and Virginia College.

Katelyn Daniels

Senior Director, Human Resources

Katie Daniels is an experienced Human Resources leader with a strong background in workforce strategy, employee relations, and organizational development within service-driven industries. As Senior HR Director, she brings a results-oriented approach to talent management, compliance, and building high-performing teams in fast-paced environments.

With a career spanning progressive HR leadership roles, Katie has developed expertise in supporting large, diverse workforces, enhancing employee engagement, and driving operational excellence. Her experience includes overseeing HR functions across multi-site operations, implementing scalable people strategies, and partnering with leadership to align human capital initiatives with business goals.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University, providing a strong foundation for her people-focused approach to Human Resources.

Kevin Prampin

Divisional Controller

Kevin Prampin is Controller at Blue Star Security, overseeing accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal statements. With 15+ years of experience in accounting, auditing, and consulting, he has worked across sectors including labor unions, benefit plans, small businesses, and nonprofits. Kevin brings a strong focus on accuracy and financial insight to support organizational performance. He holds dual bachelor’s degrees in finance and accounting from DePaul University.

Rebecca Schirrman

Manager of System Administration

Rebecca Schirrman is Manager of Business Operations at Blue Star Security, overseeing proprietary systems and leading onboarding and training for newly acquired companies. She brings experience from roles at Expeditors and JPMorgan Chase, where she supported IT infrastructure, monitored global threats, and coordinated incident response. Rebecca specializes in streamlining operations through technology and improving efficiency across teams. She holds a B.S. in Security Systems from SUNY Farmingdale, graduating magna cum laude.

Mark Hjelle

Chief Executive Officer

Mark Hjelle is the CEO of Security Services Holdings, LLC as well as Protos Security and its subsidiaries. Mark is an experienced Chief Executive Officer and Board Member who has led large national business and facilities services firms for nearly 25 years delivering strong top- and bottom-line growth while building high-performing teams with strong culture. Most recently, he was CEO for CSC ServiceWorks, a B2B2C provider of technology-enabled consumer services. Prior to CSC, Mark was President of Brickman/Valleycrest a national provider of exterior landscape and snow removal services. Over the course of his 18-year tenure at Brickman, he held numerous leadership positions in operations, finance and business development. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Government Administration from the University of Pennsylvania Fels Institute of Government and a Law Degree from Case Western Reserve School of Law.
